There is life before Julia Fox’s Birkin got slashed with a machete by some rando and life after Julia Fox’s Birkin got slashed with a machete by some rando.

Julia, I could not be more available to write a screenplay from the perspective of your Birkin. Please get in touch.
Fox met Martha Stewart at the CFDA Awards last night, and I couldn’t be happier to see the two crafty queens commune. Martha, I hope to see your method of turning a Hanes tank top into a miniskirt ASAP.
Speaking of crafty New Yorkers, did you know Amy Sedaris dated Phillip Seymour Hoffman? I found out in July when I attended a Q&A she did at the Paramount.
I used to date Philip Seymour Hoffman and I met [Justin Theroux] through Phil. And then we just became best friends.
She also notes that Theroux can be moody and uses too much spray tan, which does not shock me.
I knew Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Sedaris were friends and he had a role in the Strangers With Candy movie, but I don’t think it’s common knowledge that they dated.
Have you watched Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me? I watched it over the weekend, and I strongly recommend it even if you’re not particularly interested in Selena Gomez. It’s a more honest look at fame than I’m used to seeing.
Exactly how honest, I can’t be sure. Selena said nothing was off limits for filming, but the director Alek Keshishian (best known for Madonna: Truth or Dare) is the brother of Selena’s manager. The two began working together when he directed her music video, and even if it’s true that Selena herself was down to have anything from her life on the screen, Keshishian is clearly protective of her in interviews and had his own personal hesitations about going too deep.
But what I’m here to talk about is the name of Selena Gomez’s kidney, which she revealed to Rolling Stone.
“I named my new kidney ‘Fred. I named it after Fred Armisen because I love Portlandia. I’ve never met him, but I’m secretly hoping he finds that out just because I want him to be like, ‘That’s weird.’”
Well, that is weird! Also rude to Carrie.
I wish this were the big story to come out of that profile, but instead, Gomez is catching heat for saying, “My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong.”
Taylor Swift is also my only friend in the industry. I don’t think that’s a bad thing to say.
I guess if you are an actress who donated a kidney to Selena Gomez, though, you might be upset. And so Francia Raisa, who is not mentioned in the film, expressed herself in the modern town square: the ENews! Instagram comments. “Interesting,” wrote Raisa, who you have definitely been watching on How I Met Your Father alongside Hilary Duff. It’s hard to argue there.
Fans keep defending Gomez, insisting that that the comment was specifically about friends in the music industry. But, um, no my loves.
This week I found out that people hate Gomez’s friend Raquelle Stephens, who is I guess a hybrid best friend/assistant. Apparently she has committed the mortal sin looking on her phone when she is hovering in the background of Selena + Chef, a charming cooking show. But that is exactly what you should do if you have a celebrity friend….half listen and reap the rewards. Taylor Swift probably makes you check your phone in with her security team before you hang out. Stevens recently announced she’s co-authoring a self-help book, which feels right.
xoxo Tricia
p.s. perhaps you want to read one of my recent movie reviews? I liked Knives Out: Glass Onion and hated The Whale.
