Putting family first (David and Victoria Beckham's family)
Plus, first thoughts on The Kardashians
Hello! As I’m sure you’re aware, the eldest Beckham child has married the billionaire heiress/Holidate actress Nicola Peltz at her family’s Florida estate.
I understand almost every single detail of the affair perfectly, save for three questions:
Why was Rashida Jones there?
Were any of the 62 crew members from Brooklyn’s $100,000 per eight-minute-episode Facebook cooking show in attendance?
Does Rashida Jones work on Cookin’ With Brooklyn?
If you happen to be Rashida Jones or the bagel sandwich Brooklyn Beckham made on Facebook, please reply to this email.
Mostly, I’m still thinking about this article I saw a few weeks ago.
Cruz is the Beckhams 17-year-old son who, per i-D, is an aspiring musician. Bliss Chapman is the daughter of artist Jake Chapman and model/celebrity nutritionist Rosemary Ferguson, which explains why she was one of 15 members of Kate Moss’ bridal party who were all children (actual children) of famous people.
Rosemary seems at least a bit better than Brooklyn at cookin’. Her primary thing is throwing a large quantity of fresh herbs on top of whatever, but hey, nothing wrong with that. Rosemary loves herbs, perfect.
I hope everyone involved is believed to be prioritising family!
The Kardashians is nauseating from the camera work alone, drone cameras zooming through empty rooms of monochromatic mansions like it’s 2016. Kendall is caught mid sound-bath. Kris, Kylie, and Kim are at work, which is hard. Kourtney is making out with Travis. I don’t remember what Khloe is doing. Working out?
Kim has a theory that moms carrying girls are uglier because the fetuses take the beauty.
They place a lot of emphasis on how nice it’s been to live their lives without the cameras since Keeping Up With the Kardashians ended in June 2021, a very long time ago. But the show, more so than KUTWK, which was essentially a sit-com, seems to be chasing tabloid stories from months ago and offering little in the way of juicy details.
Kourtney divulges that she and Travis got together when they went to a movie and she kissssssed him. His promposal, which we have already seen dozens of photos of, is heavily teased in promos for the season.
Perhaps the worst part is the way they retroactively build up Kim’s SNL hosting gig to be the most important day of her life. Kim agonizes over whether or not she wants Kanye to be the musical guest or to prove she’s her own person. She calls Debra Messing “the girl from Will & Grace,” so I liked that. She calls Amy Schumer for advice, “I love having funny friends.”
FKA KKW mentions speaking to Pete Davidson at the Met Gala about her hosting gig, and he just tells her if she can read cue cards, she’s set, which does make me think he’s good for her.
I have no doubt that all happened, but the footage feels clunky and retrofitted, and isn’t that what they’re supposed to be good at? Editing reality?
